Answer: Hello, I have never found that Ritter marzipan bars are close to the expiration date and I have ordered them many times. Always fresh and delicious!

And even if the dates were close to expiry, as long as the packaging is sealed and oxygen can't reach the contents, it doesn't matter whether the expiration date is exceeded as long as the pack is stored in a cool place.

Answer: I must admit that, every time I buy the Ritter Sport chocolate, it never lasts long at my house. I would think that the chocolate would be good for at least 6 months, if stored properly. Keep it cool. With heat, the cocoa powder will rise to the surface of the chocolate and discolor it. I keep mine in a Tupperware container away from intense light and heat.

Ritter Sport was my go-to chocolate when I lived in Germany & I'm pleased I can buy it on Amazon. It's twice the price I paid in Deutschland, but cheaper than my local supermarket. The quality of storage of these candy bars was clearly not very good. The box in which they were received was crushed and the chocolate has clearly been melted and had rehardened with bloom on the surface.

I ordered two 12-packs Ritter Sport Bars (Dark Chocolate with Marzipan and Milk Chocolate with Coconut) - these are my favorite chocolate bars when they are fresh.
However the shipment I received was different - old chocolate and totally dry filling. It tasted horrible and I threw both boxes away.
I found expiration date on the Coconut bars - they were near expired. And there was no expiration date on the box with Marzipan bars or bars themselves.
I would not recommend anyone to buy chocolate from Amazon. Very disappointing..

We live in Hawaii and it is HARD to find Ritter Sport in Marzipan flavor. If we find it, it is either too old because nobody bought it or it is very $$$. So the price of under $2 per package is very reasonable (although still more expensive than in Germany!) but we are very pleased with the quality and price. Definitely would buy again!

I could care less about the health issues, I buy this because I really like it and it tastes GREAT! This candy is just sweet enough without overpowering the delicate taste of the marzipan.

Although this is my first review of this product I have ordered it many times in the past and I have never had any of the bars delivered past their expiration date. If I ever did receive expired bars I'd open them up to see whether there was anything, like mold, on the bars. If there's no mold or any other issues I'd at least eat one and, if there were no negative effects, I'd eat the rest of them over time.
The only drawback is that it takes FOREVER for these bars to be delivered although in all fairness the delivery information DOES give you a delivery range which puts the delivery dates somewhere from 4-7 weeks from the date of purchase. I ordered this on 14 March and they were delivered today, 21 April.

This is an expensive, but welcome, treat!! These have become more difficult to find locally, so we were glad to find this on Amazon. We had a previous experience with the same product, but it cams from overseas in the summer, so it had deformed but still tasted OK. This came from within the US and it came in the winter, but it brought back memories of being able to get this locally. Good stuff!

I'm very picky about my chocolates, and Ritter Sports makes really good 'candy bar' type of chocolates. They have many delicious flavors, and this happens to be my favorite right now. It's so good I can eat the whole bar in on sitting, so I have to ration it out so that I only eat 1/4 of the bar each day. It's good chocolate. Yum.
