REESE’S Peanut Butter Temptations
Level: Beginner; Prep Time: 20 min.
- Heat oven to 375°F. Remove wrappers from candies. Line small muffin cups (1-3/4 inches in diameter) with paper bake cups.
- Beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, peanut butter, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy in large bowl. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; place one in each prepared muffin cup. Do not flatten.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes until puffed and lightly browned; remove from oven. Immediately press peanut butter cup or piece onto each cookie. Cool completely in muffin pan. About 3-1/2 dozen cookies.

How heavy is the package going to be? I know the amount of ounces but how heavy is that? What would you compare it to?
Answer: I would guess about 4 pounds with packaging. That is about the same as a half (1/2) gallon of milk.

I'm sure the candy bars will taste just fine but my 18 pack came with only 13 candy bars. It is hard to find these candy bars in chain stores so I was glad to see that Amazon had them. The price is NOT cheap -- in fact it is only 15-20% less than you will pay for singles in a convenience store. But I was paying for the convenience of getting an 18-pack. When I got the package, someone had torn into it and I only got 13 bars of the 18 bar pack. What a rip off! The external UPS package was intact so it had to happen at the Amazon warehouse. You would think Amazon would have better warehouse management. Makes you wonder.....

Don't buy these, they're addicting....Really, very good and they come in a box with ice packs and cushioning. Won't melt at least and they're not all broken when you get them. No extra charge for that. Much cheaper than buying them at a store too. If you're addicted to these yummy bars like I am, grab a box, you won't be disappointed!

This has the great flavor of a Reese's and a 5th Avenue bar. I love 5th Avenues but they are hard to find. This is a great substitute, maybe even better than the 5th Avenue. The chopped nuts are a nice touch as well.

Their sole errand is one of desperation such to keep at bay the encircling doom, be it only long enough to pen this urgent warning. In this life, this perpetual quest for shreds of hope and similar intangibles – wisps of flame with which to cloak oneself against the slow clutching cold of Shadow – chance saw fit to offer up what seemed a great bounty.
Three chests. Three armors. Three talismans.
Such abundant wealth should perhaps have raised suspicions, but alas the need to recharge was too dire to allow sufficient prudence!

The first chest contained an unusual item labelled “5th Avenue”, a moniker which conveyed a sense of class and sophistication. Wrapped in a sleeve of dark brown material and adorned with classic block letters, a trustworthy simplicity beguiled the bearer to stand tall and bite firmly – a mistake quickly punished by the need to chew and swallow the contradictory crunchy mush. The thin veneer of unpleasant, waxy chocolate (Giller) was unequal to the task of masking the stale peanut-butter-like substance crouching within. Trust not this astonishing befoulment of timeless candy components: the 5th Avenue conjured images of grandpa’s favorite candy but tasted more akin to his favorite socks.
One by one, the treasures three
Didst weave a clever sorcery
Upon partial recovery from the shuddering fit brought upon by the first prize, the second was sought out in an effort to further remedy the unfortunate effects. A rush of relief was coerced, perhaps even the slightest of smiles, at the bright orange packaging of the Reese’s “Crispy Crunchy” bar contained in the next chest. Here now was a thing of substance! A treasure to cherish; a reliable old friend, though it be in strange dress: jagged, shattered-looking yellow shapes were used to decorate the wrapper and bring to mind a texture of crispiness, which the inscription promised to be accompanied by peanut butter and chocolate as well as actual peanuts. Lured thusly into a first bite of greedy proportions, the alchemy of their classic “Peanut Butter Cup” was therein twisted into something dark and cruel. Buttressed by a foundation of confection which harkened back to the travesty of the 5th Avenue, this marvel furthered the grotesquery by concealing a thick ribbon of tacky peanut butter atop the mushy crunchy core, serving only to deaden any possible crispiness which the candy may have held. This horrid mouthful then was doubly egregious, in that it also constituted a betrayal of a sacred trust: et tu Reese’s?
Each bite returned a shuddering weakness
Comingled with a dread compliance
It was then in desperation that the third chest was clawed at, fumblingly and frantically thrown open to reveal an unfamiliar oddity: a shiny silver square with a bold blue sash, emblazoned with bright red letters: “Chunky”. Upon a hurried inspection the thick slab appeared to be twin bars topped with shallow etched lines, reducing the “6 Piece” serving boasted on the front to a rather subjective interpretation, but that mattered little: warding energy was by then at a critical low, and the lurking agents of darkness, ever-watchful, were becoming emboldened at the unusual level of weakness they could sense. No time! A large mouthful was quickly consumed, and just as quickly it was apparent that this welcoming oasis had been nothing more than a cunning trap all along. Thick, dense, low-grade milk-chocolate ("Chocolate Glossary") was littered with raisins, accompanied by a few random peanuts loitering along the bottom of the bar as if someone had objected to a mere two ingredients.
If the first two chests had been a stealthy arrow and a traitorous dagger, this then was an inescapable iron shackle: a bear trap meant to sink deep and hold fast the bearer of the three treasures. Crushed and beaten, strength expended, the victim was thereupon delivered unto a doom of unfathomable darkness.
Prone now upon the unforgiving stone
All strength and will surrendered to the cold
Three poisoned chests. Three false armors. Three broken talismans.
Three traps, three dooms… one tomb.
A sage of some renown once told of a mighty defense against the darkness: serotonin, which is summoned effectively by the imbibing of the highest quality of chocolate (Gugino). Today’s fool’s gold, ‘neath a masque of hope, was clearly nurtured for a fouler purpose: naught but shrill quantity (Firger) – profit – aiming only to feed cheap greed at the expense of a shield of bliss (Weir).
Should providence allow, continue with haste beyond this false sanctuary: seek out true respite, and tarry not here amongst these sirens, lest this ghastly array of the folly of man prove to be your soul’s undoing. Gaze soberly now upon this lifeless, pale repose, and let the brewing fear fuel a hurried exit from this place – there exists herein no solace.
