what is the percentage of Cadmium in your cocoa bars

Answer: That question needs a chemist and a lab to analyze the content of the chocolate. Based on the nutrition facts on the back side of the chocolate bars, there is none. However, I don't see any reason why would they say their product has Cadmium in it (assuming it does) or selling them knowing they contain Cadmium!

Answer: I just read on Consumer Lab March 2021 they researched cadmium in chocolate and this particular one is recommended as being LOW In Cadmium, so that is what brought me to this Amazon page :)

Answer: According to testing done by Consumer Lab in 2019, Endangered Species 88% dark chocolate had one of the lowest heavy metal contents of any of the common brands, and the cadmium was 1.5 micrograms per 28 g of chocolate (0.05 micrograms/g. 1 microgram equals 1 millionth of a gram). This is barely above the testing accuracy limits.

I've been buying and eating these bars by the box-full for over a year and decided to purchase through Amazon on a auto-order to save a few bucks. Although some reviews from last year reported inconsistencies and quality issues compared to previous experiences, I thought Endangered Species would have worked through these by now. Not so. All 4 boxes (48 bars) I received were in date (expires Nov 2021). But just like previous reviewers noted, the bars were flat, chalky, brittle, and practically flavorless. The inner foil wrap was different than typically seen. I still had a few bars from a different supplier with an expiration of Feb 2022 and those bars were great so I don't believe the company explanation that they have gone to a flatter bar. I am cancelling my auto order through Amazon after wasting over $150 on a terrible lot of this product. I will try this product again through another supplier and hope I can still get the Endangered Chocolate bar that I know and love. If not, this company has lost my business which is considerable!

I searched high and low for the caffeine content of this chocolate, because it’s been my favorite for years but I’m trying to go caffeine free for sleep reasons. Consumerlab.com tested many different dark and milk chocolates, cocoa nibs, and concentrated cocoa flavenols (ie, CocoaVia products) for flavenols content, caffeine, theobromine, and cadmium as well. Each 28g serving (1/3 of a bar) of Endangered Species 88% contains 157.9mg flavenols, 1.5 mcg cadmium (an acceptable level), 32.5mg caffeine, and 321.2mg theobromine. Thanks, ConsumerLab!

I buy this chocolate in individually wrapped single squares (because otherwise I eat too much!), and I find that when I eat a square at room temp, it’s too hard and the flavor is tougher to appreciate, so instead I pop a square or two into my back pocket for a few minutes to warm it up a little before eating. When warmer, it melts so much more easily on my tongue and I can really savor the velvety richness of this amazing chocolate. My 4 year old loves it, too!
