It's difficult to find any really good pralines here in Iowa, although they can occasionally be found in a specialty candy shop. I've tried Texas pralines from Houston and Dallas, and my daughter brought a box of Aunt Sally's Creamy Original Pralines back from New Orleans. Aunt Sally's are definitely the best of the the ones that I have tried. The chocolate is smooth, the filling is smooth and sweet but not too sweet. I would have liked a few more pecans in the pralines and they are a bit pricey for the portion size. Overall, a good special treat.

These are not a confection; and not like the pecan pralines from Savannah, GA. These are gummy and chewy not the crisp light sugary break-away goodness. After two decades living in the north I splurged and bought some of what I’ve so missed from the south. I don’t even want to spare the calories to finish them. Hubby dislikes them too. : /

Awhh, Aunt Sally's used to be the best pralines one could buy in New Orleans... NOT the Creamy texture stamped in Huge letters on the packaging, they are much closer to "Chewy" and Pull apart so Don't try to "break off" a piece. Maybe it's too much CORN SYRUP, it is the 3rd ingredient!!! As in, more is used than Milk in the Manufacturing, which is probably the reason for the Odd texture and don't have a very nice taste. While pralines are Very sweet by nature, these have an unpleasant aftertaste. They are really thick with small pieces of nuts. (sigh) it's really sad that mass-production has changed their pralines into a distant relative of Real Pralines. And, i very Rarely feel compelled to write a less-than-great review for things i chose to buy.

I have had plenty of Pecan Pralines and this is not up in the top 9. I was hoping for a crisp creamy, melt in your mouth kind of praline. That is not what this is. I will need to either visit a mexican restaurant in the central US, or spend a bit and get some Aunt Aggie De's pralines (which are in said mexican restaurants). Of course, I could try to make my own again.
