Answer: Probably cause we are in deer season & demand is higher

How does this affect the native soil?

Answer: Don't understand what you mean? It will dissolve into soil and add mineral to it. Nothing that would improve mineral base.

Answer: it didn't seem to effect the soil, other than to make it smell nice. but, the 3 deer that frequent my yard, didn't seem to care for it

Answer: Not sure about the long term. We have a spot we put it out just once a couple years ago and the deer still use it, so don’t know how long before the ground returns to normal. The spots we put it out regularly are heavily used. Some are close to a foot deep and 4-5’ across.

Will this work on blacktail and elk?

Answer: This product did not work for me to attract whitetail nor axis deer. I doubt it will work for blacktail or elk.

What is the color of this stuff. If you dump it on the ground will you notice it

Answer: It is white but when you spread it on the ground it says to pour water on it so that it starts to dissolve into the ground and not just run off. I cleared off a 4 by 4 area all the way down to dirt like it said on package. Honestly though haven’t noticed any more buck movement than usual in past 2 weeks since I spread it over the area

Answer: It is gray. It is not too noticeable when dumped in the forest and it dissolves after a rain and isn’t noticeable.

how often should this be used?

Answer: I used 1 bag. All the bucks, deer for that matter, have changed their habits and are hanging out here now.

How often should you refresh the mineral site after you put a bag out?

Answer: I checked the product website and it says reapply in 60 days. We reapply about every 90 days and still have plenty of site activity.

Answer: Good question, I have actually bought it cheaper than $10 on here!

It states a 4.5lb bag...then packaged weight is 3.75lbs and then item weight is 1.9lbs. What exactly are we getting here?

Answer: Not worth it if that's the only bag you get. Mine came and was 4.5lbs. But not enough for them to even sniff. In my opinion need at least 4 bags continually for them to get use to it. So again in my opinion save your money.

I found this while surfing the web trying to get a quick yet cheap fix on my addiction for co-kain. This is a steal for the amount that is provided in the bag usually Big Tod sells 5 ounces for 45$ but this was way way better of a deal I also do love the sweet smell it has the stuff Big Tod sells does not have a sweet smell. Very impressed will be back for more when me and my wife Tammy and step son Two teeth timmy uses it all

This stuff hands down beats regular deer cocaine by a long shot. The black licorice smell allows the deer to find it overnight. Plus unlike regular deer cocaine black has calcium. Which is something bucks and does needs. Specifically during the spring and summer for antler growth and fawn development. Great stuff and highly recommend.

Adam : Didn’t see any deer tracks at the new sites after 3 weeks

Didn’t work for white tail deer. Followed instructions to a T and after 3 weeks still no activity. Started using on opening bow season, October 1st for my location (Michigan). Used in a rural area with 400 acres of state land across the street from my property. Seeing a lot of deer tracks and activity around but just not at the two sites I made. Wouldn’t recommend. I will update if this changes later in the season during the rut and post rut. Pre rut has show no success.

It’s December 2020 now and still zero white tail deer activity at these sites.

I put it out just like the directions said, I’ve got deer on camera walking right past it. So I put some about 5ft away from a corn pile, they ate the corn and didn’t touch the deer co-Cain Black magic.

Phillip Corley : 4yrs of use, confirmed good results, eat the dirt down about 4 inches long after the product is placed on the soil.

4yrs of use now, live in unique area where White-Tail and Mule deer share the same areas at different times of the year. Both really like it, end up eating a 2+ foot area of the soil down over the year. I'm impressed at the results and the year over year return of the deer hitting the 3 spots I use Deer Co-cain twice a year on my property.

I have used the Dear Cain products for several years, good products. Used this one last year, very good results. However, its $14.00, here, I get it for around $7 and some change a bag at my local OFH store, local WM had it for $9 and some change, still better than $14.00. I still give it 5 stars regardless of the price, it works.

I have countless photos just like this one.

I put the Blackmagic and my cam out on May 5th. Pulled the camera on August 6th. Over that period there were only four days in which deer didn't visit the hole. I had a camera in that same spot the whole year prior and would only get deer once or twice a week. It's obviously working well.

Put it out last weekend in the afternoon and had a buck on it by 1am. I use my backyard as a testing ground for products I'm interested in trying in the field. So far this has brought in 7 different deer in under a week, and it hasn't even rained on it yet. Most of the deer come every night, and I even had 2 does during the day with this stuff. I've never had a daytime picture with any other product. Just picked up another 3 bags to take out to my hunting grounds.

I got a late start to the season, had nothing but corn out. The first week I had my camera out over my corn pile it took about 20 photos, only one doe, at night - rest of the photos were wind/squirrels/etc. After that first week I put out deer cane - 447 photos in the next week. I had so many deer on camera, it was hard to keep track. Had the same large body buck out in daylight twice checking it out. I had another bag and made another spot, hoping for similar results. Don't mind the time/date stamp, I changed the batteries and it went back to 2019. This was December 2020. This stuff works.

The pic on this review is wrong, but the listing is right. Black Magic is the name and it's just one bag. Sometimes you can get it cheaper. But it works great. When scouting I divide one bag into four baggies, no water necessary.

This is the best salt lick product that I've ever used. Deer will dig/eat large holes in the ground where it has been put, also I've seen many different kinds of animals using it also.

Personally I buy my black magic from Walmart 6-7 dollars a bag. I spread it and some deer cane in the liquid form in a tree stump and went back a week later and I barley moved the stumped and it fell over. The deer absolutely love this stuff and it smells just like kool-laid, very very strong smell.
