Answer: Yes, indeed. You can take them along in a hike. When you feel weak, pop a few for extra electrolytes. Not harmful for kids either.
Answer: Yes, too much caffeine (IMHO) to give to anyone under 16 years of age. Make sure you hydrate appropriately when you consume these (I live and bicycle in the Florida heat).
Answer: I would say yes. They aren't really made to be eaten like candy, just for chewing a few during sports to keep electrolytes and sodium in check when water isn't enough in the heat.
Answer: Yes. I use them just prior to spinning, mountain biking or after about an hour of serious workout for a boost
Answer: I would expect so given the fact that they have caffeine and other energy producing additives. BTW my wife loved them.
Q:
How much caffeine per 1oz pouch?
Answer: 50 mg...about a cup of coffee
Q:
Are they vegan?
Answer: Based on the ingredients they don't contain gelatin but rather citrus pectin. Beyond that I can't say; their webpage doesn't claim them to be vegan nor does the packaging. Hope that helps.
Answer: No. There is beeswax as one of the last ingredients. However, some vegans do consume bee products..
Q:
Do these have any caffeine/ If yes, how much?
Answer: Yes! I just got it today. I listened to the reviews which said no. Bummer. Out of the assortment, at least 4 flavors are Extreme and include caffeine. I didn't want the caffeine.
Answer: I do not believe this pack does. There are packs that specifically indicate that they are caffeinated. (The caffeinated ones have a very different taste which I do not like at all.)
Answer: Well yes and no. Some of the flavors of the Sport Beans do have caffeine added. I am sorry, but I do not know how much. When I use them, I do not get any "caffeine lift" after consuming them.
Answer: No, there is no caffeine in these energy beans. I have been using them for a long time now and they help when I have a long run and need extra push.
Answer: I don't believe they have any caffeine but they do have a fair amount of sugar. Sometimes they really hit the spot but I wouldn't recommend them for every ride just to save the teeth.
Product reviews of Jelly Belly Sport Beans - Energizing Jelly Beans - Assorted Flavors, 24 x 1 Ounce Bags
K : Buy in Bulk - Great Value
My wife and I are cyclists and these are perfect for when you need a little extra kick when you start running out of energy. The large quantity is helpful for restocking the bikes after a long ride. Note: there are a lot of the green beans. Disproportionately so. They taste like...super sweet sport beans...so no worries there. The individual bags are AMAZING. I have put them through the rigors and they have never ripped. Plus, they're re-sealable. That is an incredibly useful feature.
C. Bailey : A great runners prize.
The only thing I have found so far that I can use for nutrition that won't bother my stomach. Plus, it's like candy, so if you don't eat sweets, and only reward yourself while running, it's a great prize.
Jose R. : Eh..
Expensive energy jelly beans nothing else to say
Felicia Hayes : These have gotten me back on track and moving
I love jelly beans and gummy bears. These have the right amount of sour-tartness to them that makes them a joy to eat after or during a workout (even with the funny "sport powder" that they are made with). I lift and run pretty hard and these have gotten me back on track and moving.
AP : Perfect for runners!
These are a godsend if you're a runner and hate that nasty Gu stuff! Tasty and energizing!
Cobra69 : Keeps You Running
I am very happy with this product. For the first time in a long time, I was able to run from my house to a nearby park and partially threw the park without stopping. I am looking forward to getting into shape.
S. Gibbs : Like a candy kick up the bum!
We bought these to try out whilst training for the 2012 Cincinnati Flying Pig Half-Marathon, using them on our pre-race 10+ milers.
They work. That's all you really need to know, right?
The wife and I shared the first bag and we both felt an instant burst of energy and vitality just when we needed (after a particularly gruelling uphill segment). The following week we took out a bag each, both of us dipping in and chewing one or two beans when we thought we needed a little boost. Again, worked a treat... it's like having an invisible someone behind you kicking you in the buttocks to move you along a bit faster.
The taste is great but, like the instructions state, don't forget to take some water on board with every bean!
Craig H. : Yummy treats good for you too.
It's great to have a snack food for athletic endeavors that is designed to be nutritious in a form that makes me think I am eating candy as a kid again which helps put the playful spirit back into what can me hard work.
AmazonProShopper : Great energy sustaining treats
I use these when I'm running OCR events. They keep me going for miles. I try to eat one pack about every 30-60 minutes on the course.
Beverly A. Butler : Energy !
Use jelly beans when I'm running. Small package , easily fits in my belt and does the trick
Tommy Mac : Treated like a ROCKSTAR! BOOYAH
No bargain knock off items! Impressed is an understatement!! 20 star service for a tiny price. Good job! Wow!!

No bargain knock off items! Impressed is an understatement!! 20 star service for a tiny price. Good job! Wow!!
Amazon Customer : Tasty!
Too chewy to eat while actually running, but great when taking a quick break. Good for training -- not for race day. Best tasting sport food I've tried, so I give it 5 stars.
shoji : Power Bean!!
I like the taste, not too heavy to eat during workout (mostly running, cycling). I don’t feel much the energy compare to other energy gel, or energy pills, but it definitely help to keep going without hungry or tiredness. I recommend to person who has sensitive stomach.
Thomas Naughton III : Beans & running mix well
They jelly beans are nice to split up during a run. Flavors are good & I need less water to rinse mouth than with gels. I found I did not like chewing jelly beans on ascents, so needed a little timing to eat on flats or downward stretch. I like flavor & texture more than gels and no sticky packet to stash.
Becki Learned : Perfect energy
I use these when I’m training for half marathons and I love them.
CAPT B. Robertson : Great, but a little addicting they're so good
Love these things.. take them to fitness center, do 45 min. weights, then get on either treadmill or recumbant bike, that's when I drink 20 oz. of water and a pack of these... great for giving me the energy to do another 45 min. to an hour more. Only thing, I love these things... a little addicting. start craving them at night... kinda makes it hard to sleep then. ha!
Irish in Carmichael : Great pregame pep.
I am in a senior league 60+. I use them as a pregame snack as our game time is 9a and I don’t eat pregame. They provide enough energy that I don’t worry about exhaustion during a couple of 6 inning games.
SleeplessInSummerville : What took you so long, Jelly Belly!?!
We first encountered this product during a local relay race... A sport energy version of the famous Jelly Belly jellybeans that actually does provide an energy boost. Easy to consume during long-distance runs (or biking) & individual packets are easy to store in waist belt. Great idea, Jelly Belly!
Charles H. Pfister : Jelly Belly Sport Beans worked great for me.
I spent two weeks riding my motorcycle across the Midwest, and western states during the hottest time of this year. I carried these Jelly Belly Beans, wore a hydration bladder, and a cooling moist towel. I used a pack of Jelly Bellies every afternoon in the hottest part of the day as I rode, and sipped water constantly. I never felt any symptoms of dehydration, and felt fine at the end of my riding day. I think these Jelly Bellies made a big difference in keeping me alert, and not feeling wasted and wore out. I would recommend them for electrolyte replacement and hydration.
kimberly : Must buy
Love these. Great for emergency pre-workout snack for alittle extra push.
Trimama : Great flavor, good energy
I do a lot of distance training--biking and running. I love the flavors in this, and it gives a good amount of energy. They are resealable, which is great, because I don't eat the whole packet at once. I buy these in bulk, because the flavor variety in each packet keeps me from feeling burnt out by the same flavor, and my husband much prefers these to gels and such. They're super portable, they don't spoil (but they can get hard if you leave them exposed to air too long).
Dr. J : don't work out without it
Great for extended workouts that take more than an hour. Boosts energy when you start to sag. Use it for mountain biking and skiing
Irish in Carmichael : Great pregame pep.

Yo Mama : Extra energy for an old man!
Sport Beans help me keep going on long runs. I'm in my 40's and they help me get that extra boost of energy to put in a few more miles when I'm training for a half marathon.
None Listed : Pretty high priced for amount
Recipient likes the flavor
TNye : Effective but not a Culinary Masterpiece
I wouldn't say the flavor is the best, but it is better than a few others that I've tried. I will say that they taste better during exercise than they do pre-workout. There is a definite caffeine bitterness to them but it isn't overwhelming. Overall I Ike the bump you get from them during a long ride so I'll stick with them.
Lisa : Three Empty packages
Three packages were sealed and totally empty! There was one package that was half filled as well. Not what I paid for.????
James : Terrific fueling option for endurance athletes
As a marathoner, I rely on Jelly Belly Sport Beans for fuel before and during long runs. Each package is resealable and they are very easy to take with you on a workout. Other workout fuels tend to upset my stomach, but I have not had any issues with Sport Beans. They aren't quite as tasty as regular jelly beans, but they provide a nice boost of carbohydrates and caffeine when I need them.
Sue : These taste like B complex vitamins. YUCK ????
I dont know why Jelly Belly would put their name on something that tastes SO awful. I took one taste, spit it out, and threw all of them in the trash. Really bad.
Lynnette Gold : Quick energy!
Very good and easy to take with you on the go!
eli kal : Triathlon BFF
I bought these for a triathlon. These are delicious. Even more delicious when your dying of exhaustion. It gave me energy when I needed it. I don't suggest putting them in your pocket on a hot day or when your clothes are wet. They will turn into a big glob of stickiness.
Cobra69 : Keeps You Running
I am very happy with this product. For the first time in a long time, I was able to run from my house to a nearby park and partially threw the park without stopping. I am looking forward to getting into shape.

Satty Faulkie : It actually does give a boost of energy.
I don't only use these sports beans for when I work out. If I wake up feeling a little groggy due to not enough rest (I have a 10mth old who sleeps in our bed) I just take a bag of these (since I can't drink coffee right now because it lowers my milk production for some reason). It works. The only problem I find is that it gives me a slight toothache sometimes. Especially if I don't drink enough water with it.
Amazon Customer : My new "go to"
I used to live by the Cliff Mocha Gels, but in the last month or so they were too "heavy" for me during my long runs. Switched over to these beans a few weeks ago, did a marathon last weekend and marathon relay this weekend - LOVE them. Sure they may take a little more time to go down v. the gels (you end up eating a few beans at a time) but they were easier on my stomach and worked great. Highly recommend them.
OneJazzyMomma : I really like the beans
I really like the beans, but as with many food items I have ordered from Amazon, these seem to have been stored incorrectly. They are all stuck together and melted. They still taste fine.
kimberly : Must buy
Love these. Great for emergency pre-workout snack for alittle extra push.
Kari Shimada : Great Product; Poor Seller
Let me start off by saying that I love these jelly beans. I'm a mid-distance runner (multiple half-marathons, but never a marathon), and I use these every weekend for my long runs. I find that starting with a whole pack before I run is excessive. Perhaps it varies by body type? (For reference, I'm 5'1" and about 115 pounds). I usually start with 4-6 beans about 30 minutes before running and then have a few every 30 minutes or so during the run, and I find that to be more than sufficient. I much prefer these jelly beans over gel packs, as the gel packs require much more water to get the taste and texture out of my mouth. The last thing I want while I'm running is for my mouth to feel sticky. The individual packets are also very portable, easily fitting into any of my running belts.
However, the reason for the three stars is that I received 24 packets of watermelon beans, as opposed to the assorted beans I had purchased. I don't know if I care enough to return, as I'll end up using them and returns are such a hassle, but I specifically was looking for the assorted packs, as I enjoy the variety during my runs. The false advertising was very disappointing and counteracted the deal I thought I was getting, as I would have rather paid more and received what I was promised.
In short, I'll continue to use this brand of jelly beans for years to come, but I will no longer purchase through Amazon and will instead continue to support my local sporting stores, when stores around me in NYC reopen.
Carrie Davis : Perfect for distance running
These are great. For whatever reason, it seemed like I had more of the like green jelly beans than any other flavor, which are my least fave. I take these on my 10+ mile runs and digest easily and easily palatable while running.
John M : BE CAREFUL when Purchasing - Beans melt together and are hard to remove from pouch
I purchased a case of Jelly Belly Sport Beans to use during my daily cycling training. The sport beans are very hard to access and remove from sealed pouch while cycling and melt together once heat / humidity is induced. I ended up cutting zip lock portion of pouch off prior to cycling to allow access to the sport beans while cycling but induced humidity into pouch which ended up melting the beans together. Sport Beans have good favor and are consistent in size. Do not have these sport beans shipped to hot / humid areas, as I received several pouches that had sport beans melted together upon arrival at my home.
Spicy78 : they are like no other and aggressive (in a good way)
Was skeptical about these (why wouldn't anyone be? These are jelly beans!). I've been using them for a couple days before hitting the gym and I was quite surprised as to that my workouts were slightly more pleasant. Couple this with your pre-workout shakes and you will feel a noticeable gain in energy level.
Taste-wise, they are like no other and aggressive (in a good way). I would highly recommend these as part of ones physical activities.
The only downside is the price, so I would recommend eating them only when you absolutely know you are going to do high impact activities to get the full benefit.
Alan Fletcher : I love Jelly Beans
This is a great product. Easy to carry on my bike rides and very easy to consume. And, unlike the regular Jelly Beans this is a much better product just because it is all natural. Shocking, I know! This product does not have any of the artificial colorings or other stuff that is better suited in a chemistry set. Well done!
Judy333333 : GREAT for on-the-go energy
I use these as an energy source for bike riding. They fit great in a bike jersey pocket, they have a Zip-lock seal, and you can eat just one or all of them depending on your energy need. Much better than an energy bar which are yucky to only eat a bite or two out of and put back in your jersey pocket! Plus, they don't taste like cattle-feed like so many energy bars tend to. They have the same consistency as a jelly bean, but you won't eat them like candy because they make you thirsty. They aren't kidding when they put on the label "Alwasy consume with water." OK, sometimes I do eat them as "candy" but not many. The only draw back is if they sit in your car in the hot sun, they tend to stick together, even after they gave cooled... especially if they were being pressed on by something (like they were in your duffel bag and your shoes were laying on the bag of beans). Still edible, not messy, but not as easy to pop just one. Highly recommend.
Lily : overpriced jellybeans
I was training for a 10k, I am not a runner and I get headaches easily. I don't like the taste of runner's gel. I thought this would be a good substitute. The flavor is quite tangy. I feel like I need water after eating these. I find these jellybeans to be a good item to bring on a hike but not for a run. The caffeine level is very light. In short, do not buy it.
Tamara Hall : I am an avid runner and let me tell you... these are AWESOME.
I ran my first half marathon last weekend. I trained for a year beforehand... running a LOT of long distance runs... and always found myself "hitting a wall" right around the 8 mile mark. I was looking for something to give me some quick energy to get me through the rest of my run. THESE ARE IT. These jelly beans work extremely well and I swear by them now. They are very easy to take while still running because they are small and easy to chew. I highly recommend these to anyone who is running long distances and needs some extra energy.
