Product reviews of Schmerling's Solid Bar kosher for Passover Swiss Chocolate 3.5oz (Choco Blanc, 3.5 Ounce (Pack of 1))
southerner : Delicious treat
Love this white chocolate bar. Tried to save it for Pesach...
cerebralauthor : Rare find, quality through the roof
I was surprised reviews are so scant on this. Isn't it sad to be an international mass producer of a popular staple like chocolate for your religious brethren, and to be the only one leaving a review for your own chocolate, under your own name, because those people of yours are so isolated that they don't have Internet access, or wouldn't know how, or it would not occur to them to leave you an Amazon review? What makes it even sadder is that this happens to be world-class chocolate. I got it from a local Jewish-oriented grocery called Paperific at 1482 Coney Island Ave. (btw. Ave K and Ave. L, near the Ave J subway stop of the Q train in Brooklyn's Midwood neighborhood); it is a religious Jewish area, it probably isn't distributed in regular nabes. (By the way, this super-affordable, great-finds grocery store also had Alprose, Shufra, and Gross & Co. – all equally high-quality Kosher chocolates made in Switzerland!) I was shocked there were hardly any reviews on here and decided to buy all 13 kinds, take detailed notes and write a proper review here, on all pages for this chocolate. They were at $2.99 each so it is best to buy them locally if you can find a Jewish nabe. For reference, I mostly eat high-quality European chocolate like Lindt, and pity Americans brought up on Hershey's, which I don't consider chocolate at all. After trying all 13 types, I can confidently say - this is a superb luxury choc., the stuff of dreams, Lindt-level. Chocolate simply does not get any better. It is also somewhat unusual – denser than other chocolates. I was particularly impressed by „No Sugar Added“ and the „Sugarless“ types – you can’t tell they have less sugar, they tasted pretty good (although not as good as the sugar types), and yet, they are much better for you. Here is what I bought, by type of chocolate:
WHITE CHOCOLATE: White Almond (Swiss White Chocolate w/ Almonds); Choco Blanc (Finest Swiss White Chocolate); Ice Coffee – white chocolate with coffee - this unusual flavor at first impressed me negatively due to bitter coffee aftertaste (I am not a coffee drinker, however), but then grew on me and is now my #1 favorite, which I can't stop buying. All 3 were great.
MILK CHOCOLATE:
Rosemarie Cappuccino (Coffee Filled Swiss Milk Chocolate) – a favorite; Rosemarie Harmony (Praline Filled Swiss White Chocolate) – great; would buy again; Rosemarie Milk (No Sugar Added Praline Filled Swiss Milk Chocolate) – great! would buy again; you can’t tell it has much less sugar; Rosemarie Milk (Praline Filled Swiss Milk Chocolate) – great!; Rosemarie Split (Nougat Praline filled Swiss Milk Chocolate) – it was ok; Swiss Milk Hazelnuts (w/whole roasted hazelnuts) - excellent; Swiss Milk (Finest Swiss Milk Chocolate) – generic milk chocolate, no frills, but super good; Rosemarie Kids Extra Milk – good; Rosemarie Caramel and Sea Salt - great.
SEMI-DARK CHOCOLATE: Rosemarie Parve (Praline Filled Bitter-Sweet Swiss Chocolate) – great dark chocolate; Rosemarie Parve SUGARLESS (Praline Filled Bitter-Sweet Swiss Chocolate) – also great dark chocolate; would buy again. There were two more types of DARK chocolate - I did not buy them since I am not into dark chocolate, but I do not doubt they were great too.
alexandra : Très bon
