product description
Brought to You by UPG
The origins of UPG are shrouded in mystery. Some accounts trace the Guild's birth to Athens in the latter half of the 4th century BCE. Allegedly, several lesser philosophers grew weary of the endless Socratic dialogue endemic in their trade and turned to crafting household implements and playthings. (Hence the assertions that Socrates quaffed his hemlock poison from a Guild-designed chalice, though vigorous debate surrounds the question of whether it was a "disappearing" chalice.)
Others argue that the UPG dates from the High Middle Ages, when the Philosophers Guild entered the world of commerce by selling bawdy pamphlets to pilgrims facing long lines for the restroom. Business boomed until 1211 when Pope Innocent III condemned the publications. Not surprisingly, this led to increased sales, even as half our membership was burned at the stake.
More recently, revisionist historians have pinpointed the birth of the Guild to the time it was still cool to live in New York City's Lower East Side. Two brothers turned their inner creativity and love of paying rent towards fulfilling the people's needs for finger puppets, warm slippers, coffee cups, and cracking up at stuff.

Product reviews of The Unemployed Philosophers Guild RetireMints Mints - 1 Small Tin 1.75 x 1.75
PAULA b. : Was a Christmas gift
Did not come at all
shelly jatczak : grift stuffer
much smaller than anticipated
Marc : Too tiny
Such a cute idea but the box is absolutely tiny. Bought some to hand out at a retirement party. Embarrassing to give out they are so small. Disappointed!
Amy : As advertised
Smaller than you would expect but a great addition to the retirement gift I bought.
Amazon Customer : Acute side gift for retirement party
Cute little side gift for a retirement party
Raymond D Jennings Jr : Great gift for a friend
as it was a gift that is only for show, the mints to never be used. Just a great gift!
HKG-Snohomish : Tiny Tiny Tiny Tin
I can't be angry, I didn't read the ad after being lulled by the humor - it's my fault. All the same, the photo is huge but the tin is so, so super small. My review of the product stands. Additionally, the tin is not 3/4" thick, it a scant 9/16". That's a 25% discrepancy so it should be corrected in the ad.
therese roscoe : candy
good
Ericha : So funny!!
Omg my God mom loved it! She just retired and on her last day she brought these to work to show to her coworkers!
Geena Wannabe : Cute!
Cute. A little spendy, especially when you have to pay over $3 just for shipping, but cute concept and went over well as a gift for a retiree.
Rough Rider : Great gift
Novelty item. Tiny, but the reviews all say that. Fun gift item.
Katie : Not worth it!!!!’
Dislike!!
I can hardly see the contain the mints come in!!
Was shocked, was not worth the money!!
Thanks
Carolyn S. : Not worth the money.
Thought this would be cute for two co-workers but was disappointed. Expected an average size tin (like Altoids) but tin was only about 2” x 2”. Very small and definitely not worth the money.
mlp : Cute item ...
But, the price is too high for the extra small tin.
Diana L. Hirschfeld : great gift
container was much smaller than anticipated but well worth the money, bought as a retirement gift
Diana L. Hirschfeld : great gift
container was much smaller than anticipated but well worth the money, bought as a retirement gift
Amy : As advertised
Smaller than you would expect but a great addition to the retirement gift I bought.
Cecilia Roberts : they are great. I only gave them 4 stars because
These are going to be in my husband's Christmas stocking and as such, they are great. I only gave them 4 stars because, like some others -- I think they are over priced and then there is a shipping charge. The tin is very tiny, so for the amount charged plus the shipping, I don't feel they are worth it. As a funny stocking stuffer for someone who is retiring, they are a great, although pricey, idea.
mommywald : Cute retirement gift
Was a gift for retiring relative. Perfect addition to another gift I was giving.
Nikki C : Clever item
I gave this and other things to a coworker for her retirement. She thought it was cute..."clever" she said.
Amy : teeny tiny (did i say how TINY?)
My bad. i just saw the pic and was thinking it was a normal size box of mints. i'm all good with overpaying for a gag gift. but this TEENY TINY MINUSCULE thing isn't worth $1, never mind $4.99. Sorry, it's going back. It's so ridiculously small that it doesn't even make a good gag gift. the product pic needs to show how teeeeeeeeny this is
Amazon Customer : Retiremints - 1 Tin of Mints
Retiremints - 1 Tin of Mints
Amanda : Great product, just in a tiny tin.
It's a neat idea but I was disappointed to see how tiny it was. It was about the size of a half dollar. I thought it would at least be a little bigger. But otherwise it's a great product especially for a gift.
N.E. Tyme : Perfect Goofy Gift
Needed something for a retirement gift, and the mints were the start of a great gift.
Cookie : Cute add on for retirement gift.
This tin is really tiny. It's a cute add on for a retirement gift.
Amazon Customer : Tiny tiny tiny
Make sure to look at the measurements. This is the tiniest package of mints for $5. Wish I had read the dimensions first. As you will see it isnt a lot bigger than a quarter...maybe the size of 2 quarters
Nikki C : Clever item
I gave this and other things to a coworker for her retirement. She thought it was cute..."clever" she said.

Carol Merriman : Silly gift.
Great retirement gag gift.
Jennie Nicastro : Soooo very tiny for the price!!
Had I taken a moment to read just how SUPER TINY this product was I would have NEVER paid almost $5 for it. If you are giving this as a gift (or gag gift), be sure to also give them magnifying glasses ???? so they can read it ????.
Amy : teeny tiny (did i say how TINY?)

Maria V. : Very Strong Mints!
Got these as a "gag gift" for a friend that's retiring but didn't know when I'd see him so I decided to open and try them out. --There's a ton of tiny mints in the small tin, but they are VERY strong!! (..In a different kind of way from Altoids!) ..Needless-to-say, I don't think I'm going to purchase again..and I'll just find something else from my friend!
VALERIE CONLEY : Very small
Way smaller than expected. I should of read description would not have purchased it if I knew it was so tiny.
MimiG80817 : I should have paid more attn to dimensions...
It was much smaller than I was expecting. I should have read the dimensions...assumed it was the size of most mint tins. Purchased this as part of a retirement gift for a friend.
