Answer: I only got one bag with my order. I have had it for sometime now just in the cupboard. To answer your question, I tried a piece and it was just fine.

Answer: Well, as I say, to make the shipping cost minimal, I might get 5. You can store in fridge or freezer. Because the heat of summer can affect their texture

Expire date ?

Answer: I didn't notice if there was an expiration date. They have so much sugar that they would probably be preserved for years in the sealed bag. My bag was fine.

This sweet and sour tamarind product is NOT a true tamarind taste. Also, it is overly coated with sugar. The taste itself is awful, the package is very small and not worth the price, don't waste your money!

Unfortunately this really does taste and feel like you're eating cardboard. Into the compost it goes. Very sad because I've had a version of sweet and sour tamarind brought from overseas and it was so delicious -- oh well.

I have bought these in an Ohio Asian Market. The best tamarind treat I have tried -- real tamarind coated with salt, sugar and chile. The BAD PART is the Amazon price. I pay $2 a pack at the market, the price on Amazon is almost $7.

More like a prune than anything else. Not sweet, not sour, and not salty. Further, it is the whole pod!! Not nice yummy tamarind fruits - the entire bean. Very disappointing and slow to arrive. I prefer the Thai candy - at least that is flavorful.

Plus it has an interesting, spicy Tamarind flavor going on in the background. Different and tasty.
